Today, creative practice has long been recognised as a mechanism for meditation, mindfulness and wellbeing. 

Within itself photography is powerful and through the ubiquitous photographic image; it has changed how we view the world.

Photographic meditation is the emphasis of the exploration of the image; the moment before the shutter is pressed and the picture is taken. As opposed to and in contrast to focusing on the technicalities of exposure. 

From the advent of the first photographic image in 1839 the camera has developed intimate relationships with the act of photography and the moment itself. Noted for the ‘decisive moment’, the street photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson would work with his camera to capture events which were both ephemeral and spontaneous, being in the moment!
